I wrote this post to let many people know that RM is a great leader and brilliant human being.

Q. Since your debut in 2013, BTS has faced the dreams and reality of boys and young people, and even in the song 'The Last', a mixtape of Suga, he expressed his feelings about the gap with reality, depression, and compulsion when he dreamed of becoming an idol star. When you look back on your days as a trainee, how did you overcome the energy of anxiety and where do you think that dream has come?

RM:
Humans seem to be programmed to think of ambivalent emotions simultaneously.
This is said to be the driving force that made man the lord of all things and dominated the world.
It is in our genes that we think of breakup while in love and think of fall and failure at the same time when we feel success.
It is similar to the context of Suga hyung, but (anxiety) is like a shadow.
I want to say more based on my case, my father got a tinnitus after 25 years of company life.
He said that there are no symptoms when concentrating on work or doing things that he likes, but when faced with stress or desperate situations, symptoms appear to the extent that it interferes with life.

To some, the anxiety that appears as a tinnitus is like a shadow, so when it gets taller, the shadow gets bigger, and at night the shadow gets longer.

Therefore, it cannot be said that we can overcome the ambivalent feelings on the other side of our hearts, but it seems that humans need a shelter because everyone has to live with inevitable solitude or darkness.

In the past, my only shelter was music, and I luckily chose it (as a job), met good friends and achieved both professionally and financially.

So, I have created several shelters so that I can be friends with my anxiety: Collecting figures, buying clothes I like, going to a neighborhood I didn't know and seeing how people live.

If I get off the bus and walk around in an unknown neighborhood, (I feel like) I am not far from this world, and it is an opportunity to narrow the distance. Then the anxiety spreads.

[Question]

Q. How about as a team leader?

 

[Answer]

RM: 
I have two thoughts: 'Where should we go next?' and that as a leader I can step back a little. There are areas where I need to inspire my team.
We have already come this far, so now we have to make a choice. Will we settle down here or will we do more? 
It's not a matter of right or wrong to settle down even though you can see enough range to run more, rather it's a bit uncool by my standards.
At this point, I think it's a calling. I tell the members that we should see where we are going, that we should pave the way, and I want other members to think about it, and thankfully, all of them sympathize.
I don't know where the end will be, but I have to finish it.

[Question]

Q. Among idol singers, it seems that BTS has quite a lot of interest in social issues. I heard that you read newspapers often. Was that helpful in your music activities?

 

[Answer]

SUGA:
"Fans also talk about things that happen in society, and I think we should know."

RM:
In any case, the identity we have since our debut is that we talk about us through music. Story of our age. So, we can't be unaware of the social phenomena surrounding them while telling stories of our ages.
If we don't know about social phenomena in general, we can't write lyrics that contain such content.”

 

 

4. Interview (4)

▲ I was also hooked on the keyword happiness until early last year. However, I read a newspaper column while I was on my way to Japan recently, and I heard that humans can never get the happiness they want. That's how it is in the genes, so you can't own happiness forever. It says that humans have achieved goals such as the Industrial Revolution and the development of science by their desires, but if they achieve one, they feel a lack in another. We thought we would be happy if we won first place, but we make another goal... I agreed with the content of the article.
 So rather than happiness, let's find our own conclusions in "Love Yourself," which we're talking about. "Love Yourself" is to find a process to love me. My dream is not to be number one on the Billboard, but to love me properly. I don't think I can reach this dream even if I face my ugliness and my shabbyness hundreds of millions of times. Now that I am lucky to meet the concept of'Love Your Self', I want to take a step closer to how I can love me more while being faithful to this sentiment. There are many things that can be said, such as darkness and solitude as the subject. (RM)

 

 

5. Concert Ending speech (1)

20151128 RM Hwayang Yeonhwa(HYYH) 花樣年華 on stage ending

I was thinking about what to say.
First of all, I think that my father who goes to work at the company, my mother who goes to the real estate, my younger siblings, dogs and cats on the side of the road, and even trees and stones, each have a milky way in their own hearts.

Of course, there are people who die without discovering the Milky Way until they really die. No matter how you lived or how you died.

So, I also said that this HYYH Part One and Part Two, which we made, is precariousness and energy, but in the hope of finding the Milky Way...

In fact, it is said to be the most beautiful moment in life, and it starts with a flower "Hwa(花)" and ends with a shining "Hwa(華)".

What is this beauty, beauty, actually beauty? I think that there exists beauty because of ugliness.
So, "Because there are just hard moments, if there are hard moments, there will be good moments. Always think and hold on like this." It's not like this.
If you can think that even those difficult moments are part of a beautiful moment, and it is a piece of it, it will be a sincere consolation for us, and it will be a proud meaning for us.

My father, mother, and brother are here. I wanted to tell you that I have become a proud son who can tell my story to so many people who love me in front of them, and I can influence and help people for some kind of connection in the world.

20190519 Speak Yourself TOUR - MetLife, Day 2 RM Ending

Yes. Where to start. They say "American Dream". Some say we achieved it and some say we didn't, but we never dreamed of it. I didn't think it was something we could dream of. It's impossible, but ARMY, look at this. Together we made it.

Dear America, thank you for taking care of us, letting us come, and accepting.
7 boys from Korea sing songs in Korean, have different appearances and different languages, but you has truly shown that music penetrates language, appearance and everything.

Now, let's put those dreams aside for a second, and I didn't know but I really felt that this moment and all of you here became our real dreams. Nothing else matters.

The most important thing is this moment.
To breathe with you, to sing with you, to feel and enjoy the same thing, to share positivity.
This moment will be in my dream forever. Thank you.

20191029 Speak Yourself THE FINAL (SEOUL) Last Day RM Ending

Let's give ourselves a round of applause for BTS and ARMY, who have endured together to love ourselves for two and a half years. Thank you for your hard work.

Well, if I think about it, I've been thinking about it since the last line of "Reflection" in 2016, I wish I could love myself.

So I don't know, so why don't we look for it together? Won't you? It was the journey that started in this way, and since it was a project that came after such a project that received a lot of great feedback, Hwayang Yeonhwa [HYYH, 花樣年華], I wondered if many people would be able to join me....

Uh so now, If you ask me 'Do you love you?', I'm not sure yet.
But, for some reason, I feel like I can.

So, Love Yourself Speak Yourself ends here once with this concept, but the way we love us, the way we continue to find the way in the future, will not end. Thus, I hope we can continue to hold our hands and love ourselves more like this. I hope we will be together and love ourselves more, okay?

8. Award speech

190226 The 6th E-Daily Culture Awards-Grand Prize Awards  - Grand Prize Winning BTS (RM)

We said that we would like to receive the concert award 3 years ago, but we naturally thank the ARMYs who made the grand prize like this.
In fact, I didn't know if we would really receive it, so I thought for a moment what to say if we really did receive it. Actually, in a very way, the awards ceremony, called the Cultural Awards, is both fresh and new to us. A lot of cultural people are here, uh... I thought this was the first thing I thought of.

I remember the most memorable words that Baekeom Kim Goo said, "The only thing I want to have is the strong power of culture."

I think that culture is indeed the most powerful intangible force that breaks all boundaries than any other physical force.

Not only the music I am engaged in, but as a fan or consumer of all cultural genres such as Korean music, musicals, dramas, plays, and dance, and these cultures are breathing by my side, and as I enjoyed these cultures, I became a person as a person. I think that it is a very powerful, human-to-human power that inspires and influences my music a lot.

So, although we are the only ones in this glorious place, I hope you remember not only our artists, but also the many staff who help this artist, and above all, all fans and consumers who love and consume culture. 

I don't know if we qualify for this award among such great cultural people, but I think it's an award given to us to spread the power of Korean culture all over the world. We try to be more humble and hard-working BTS.
