When I heard the news that BTS is coming, I watched I-LAND, an idol survival show aired on Mnet. I am writing this post because I want to share the advice of the BTS that they gave to trainees on the air. Watching the show, this advice was helpful even for me who don't have high self-esteem. Some of the scenes were extracted.

JIMIN : As I've lost my confidence in I-LAND
[Reading a trainee's concerns]

JIMIN : Despite having to preempt good parts in the test

JIMIN : I keep stepping back.

HANBIN: Because there are many talented friends here
(HANBIN is the trainee.)

HANBIN : I have lost confidence.

HANBIN : I'm practicing hard, but I'm a little lacking.

ZICO : HANBIN keeps getting it wrong from start to finish.

HANBIN : I'm a little nervous.

(HANBIN came in 12th place again, today.)

HANBIN : I'm so worried when I think about the future now.

SUGA : He seems to lose his self-esteem rather than his confidence.

Jungkook : I honestly don't know why he's thinking like that

Jungkoo: on this (survival) show, I-LAND.

Jungkoo: I want him to run as hard as he can and hold on to anything he can.

Jungkoo: In the process, you'll find something of your own

Jungkoo: and once you know it, you'll be confident

Jungkoo: and you'll continue to grow in that way.

V : This answer could be very cruel to him.

: But this advice is based on what we've all been through.

J-HOPE : I think it would be better if he thinks more positively.

(Cheer up, Hanbin!!)

This is BTS's answer to I-Land trainee's concerns about his future being unstable and worried about his lack of confidence.

Jungkook

I honestly don't know why he's thinking like that on this (survival) show, I-LAND. I want him to run as hard as he can and hold on to anything he can. In the process, you'll find something of your own, and once you know it, you'll be confident, and you'll continue to grow in that way.

V

This answer could be very cruel to him. But this advice is based on what we've all been through.

J-HOPE

I think it would be better if he thinks more positively.

It seems that BTS also went through a lot of growth while achieving their current position. What Jungkook said is especially touching. Sometimes I get scared and give up before I do anything. I just think like "Only those who are really good at that level should challenge. I probably can't. I won't even try because I don't want to waste my time with zero percentage. There were many opportunities I have missed because of this kind of thought.

But if it becomes a habit to give up like this, I get scared of what I can do and don't even try using all kinds of excuses. I want to go to MIT. I want to go to Apple. These goals may not be very dreamy. Obviously, it's not a 0% chance if you try really hard. However, there are many cases where we confine ourselves to the limits we have set, prevent us from challenging ourselves, and prevent us from growing.

Who would have imagined BTS performing and receiving awards at four major awards ceremonies in the United States? Who would have predicted just five years ago that they would be able to do a stadium tour that few people around the world can do? But BTS broke most people's expectations and did all these things. They are raising their goals step by step. From the Billboard stage, Billboard awards, AMA awards, Grammy stages, and stadium tours, they consistently achieve their goals. One might say that they were just lucky. However, behind the spectacular achievements, there was definitely a bloody effort and so much enthusiasm that they had to breathe oxygen through respirator behind the stage. There must have been many other efforts we didn't know at all. Still, they are frantically running for their dreams and do the best they can at every moment. They don't use any other shortcuts and only try with their bodies. Wouldn't they be able to succeed because they worked so hard?

I also thought a lot, "I think my dream is too big to target that. I can't do it. I'll try it, but I won't expect it." I think it's impossible from the beginning, but how can I do my best like crazy? We are more capable than we think, but we tend to underestimate ourselves too much. Don't limit yourself, don't care whether your goal is big or small, let's run towards the target like crazy. It can't be helped to fail after trying like crazy, but it's too bad to not even try. It doesn't matter if others laugh. It's okay for others to say that you probably can't. We just need to prove it to them. You said no, but I did it. You laughed at me that I wouldn't be able to do it because my skills aren't good right now, but I worked like crazy, and I did it. Let's really do our best to be able to say this. We have many possibilities.
